Explorations in Math

Beer View Mirrors' first volunteer project for Spring '11 was a fun filled afternoon at "Explorations in Math - MathFest"

"Explorations in Math turns math into a lifelong adventure. By building a culture in elementary schools that showcases math as fun, engaging, and relevant, we unleash every child’s ability to conquer math in his or her own way. And that’s simply fabulous to see!"

The team, who was part of 140 volunteers that day, engaged in fun AND educational activities - of course all related to Math! - with kids ranging from ages 3 to 12.
This was Explorations in Math's first-ever MathFest and the Beer View Mirrors are happy to have been apart of such a successful event: More than 1,200 participants from over 90 elementary schools participated in this Saturday event.
Marissa, on the left, working out a math puzzle with one of the participants.

Erin helping kids make Algebra Pattern Bracelets.

Hitesh working with a little guy - trying to guess how many duckies are in that jar!

The team was amazed and grateful for a great opportunity to be a part of the children's day and be excited over math with them!

Not everyone, but most of the Beer View Mirrors -

Front row, left to right: Marissa, Erin, Manson, Tesh and Erica.

In true Beer View Mirror fashion, if you work hard you get to play afterwards - team bonding over beer and good food.

Manson, Tesh, John, Serena and Susie - relaxing at Palominos. The kids tired them out :)

Cheers!
